Wonky Veg Is Still Good Veg

Wonky fruit and veg is still great food – but this summer's extreme heat has left thousands of cosmetically imperfect but safe, nutritious fruit and vegetables discarded before it leaves the farm gate.

Food security is national security. Every rejected crop is food that isn't reaching shelves — and the more we depend on imports to fill that gap, the more exposed our supply chains become.

We urgently need a national food strategy which relaxes cosmetic specifications, guarantees farmers a fair price, and creates statutory duties relating to food security.
